
Dr. Eylem Kiliç
Qualifications
Dr. Eylem Kiliç holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Spain), supervised by Prof. Dr. Rita Puig Vidal and Prof. Dr. Pere Fullana i Palmer. Her thesis focused on the valorization of waste streams in plastic composite production, applying Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to support circular economy strategies.
She also holds a PhD in Leather Engineering from Ege University (Turkey), where she specialized in the environmental evaluation of chromium recovery from tannery sludge using Life Cycle Assessment. Dr. Kiliç completed a postgraduate course in Environmental Management at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, and holds MSc and BSc degrees in Leather Engineering and Leather Technology from Ege University.
Professional and Research Activity
Dr. Kiliç is currently an Associate Professor at Ege University. Her research focuses on environmental sustainability in industrial systems, with particular emphasis on Life Cycle Assessment, waste valorization, circular economy strategies, and the development of sustainable leather and composite materials. Her work often integrates Life Cycle Assessment methodology to assess the environmental performance of processes and materials, and to support cleaner production practices.
She has held visiting academic and researcher positions in Spain and New Zealand, collaborating with institutions such as the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, the University of Girona, and Massey University, as well as with industry-focused research centers like the New Zealand Leather and Shoe Research Association.
