
Dra. Gloria I. Carvajal
Qualifications
Civil Engineer; Specialist in Construction Engineering and Environmental Management; Master's in Civil Engineering Consulting; and Doctor in Construction Engineering and Environmental Management. She has been a member of the Colombian Council for Sustainable Construction (CCCS) since 2010, participated in the board of directors, and currently serves as part of the regional committee.
Professional and Research Activity
She is currently a full-time professor in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Medellín, where she also serves as the coordinator of the Master's program in Civil Engineering.
Her current research focuses on construction management, particularly sustainable construction to reduce resource consumption and the management of solid waste and construction and demolition waste (CDW). This includes applying circular economy principles to building and road projects, incorporating aspects of life cycle analysis and carbon footprint assessment.
Dr. Carvajal is an external researcher at the UNESCO Chair in the Cycle of Life and Climate Change ESCI-UPF through an agreement signed with the University of Medellín. She has coauthored several scientific papers with the Chair and has participated in various research projects in collaboration with its full-time researchers.
