Dr. Mercè Roca

Qualifications

Dr. Mercè Roca completed her Ph.D. Center for Decision Research at the University of Leeds in 2006. Prior to her doctoral studies, she attained a Master's Degree in Economics and Management from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in 2002. Her undergraduate studies include a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (1999), followed by a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the same institution (2000). Her research has gained her the "Agregat" research accreditation by AQU in 2011 and the accreditation as full senior associate professor "Titular de Universidad" by ANECA in 2016.

Professional and research activity

Dr. Mercè Roca is currently a senior associate professor at ESCI-UPF where she serves as member of the Academic Board of the Master of Science in Sustainability Management, Head of Studies of the Bachelors’ Degree in International Business and Marketing and Director of the Master of Science in International Business. Her teaching is in the field of market research analytics and data analysis both at undergraduate and masters’ levels. 

Building on the foundation of her doctoral work, focused on individual decision-making with applications to the study of consumer behavior, she has undertaken studies and developed expertise in the application of qualitative and quantitative research techniques in diverse domains that link with the Chair’s activities, such as consumer recycling behavior, individual and organizational practices towards sustainability, food sustainability education, and alternative market mechanisms. 

Additional to collaborating with the UNESCO Chair in Climate Chair and Life Cycle Analysis and the CSR Mango Chair at ESCI-UPF, Dr. Roca is an active member of several research groups at various institutions: the RISE Research in International Studies and Economics (ESCI-UPF), the BARG Business Analytics Research Group (DEB UPF), and the Sustainability Observatory (UPF BSM).
